Horse-Drawn Carriage Vs. Horse-Drawn Wagon: Which Ride Is Right for Your Celebration?

Wedding celebrations, birthday parties, parades, and company picnics are just a few of the many occasions where people seek to hire horse-drawn services in Green Bay and Northeast Wisconsin.

At Davister's Carriage Rides, our team of horses and humans prepares year-round to provide all of our customers with memorable experiences. However, a phone call that we often receive from potential clients is a request to distinguish between the horse-drawn transportation options that we offer.

Below we have outlined some of these differences in an effort to help you decide whether your event is more suited for one of our carriages or one of our wagons.

Carriages

A carriage is traditionally a four-wheeled passenger vehicle that is pulled by a team of horses. They come in many different styles and looks, but at Davister's Carriage Rides, we classify our horse carriages into two categories:

1. Small Carriage

Our different Small Carriage options comfortably accommodate group sizes of up to six passengers. If you are looking for an intimate or romantic tour of Green Bay or one of the outlying Northeast Wisconsin communities, the Small Carriage might be the best choice for you.

This option lends itself well for (but is certainly not limited to):

  • Weddings (Bride and Groom)

  • Anniversaries

  • Engagements

  • Small family celebrations

2. Large Carriage

For customers who are hosting a modest-sized event and need to entertain 12 to 14 passengers, our Large Carriage may be the more suitable selection. It offers a spacious seating compartment and is often booked for wedding parties and other family-related festivities.

All of our horse-drawn carriages, small and large, are designed with the idea that classic charm and modern flare are the perfect ingredients for a truly unique transportation experience.

Wagons

The origin of horse-drawn passenger wagons dates back thousands of years to the domestication of horses. Similar to the carriages, the wagon has evolved into many different prototypes over the course of history. We offer two variations that are the most universally equipped to meet our clients' needs for any event or occasion:

1. Wagonette

Our Wagonette is the perfect choice to comfortably seat up to 16 people. It has long bench-style seats on each side that give passengers a chance to kick back, relax, and socialize across the aisle or to the left and right.

The Wagonette is a horse-drawn vehicle that can serve a whole host of purposes. This range includes:

  • Wedding parties

  • Birthday parties

  • Parades

  • Church picnics

  • Company picnics

2. People Wagon

Much like the wagonette, our People Wagon offers versatility no matter how formal or informal you would like your celebration to be. The main difference is the larger number of passengers that can board, which is typically up to 20.

Some examples of occasions that you might consider booking our People Wagon include:

  • Large wedding parties

  • Family reunions

  • Community events

  • Birthday parties

  • Parades

  • Church picnics

  • Company picnics
